Information
Venice, at Paolo Baglioni, 1638. In 4º. Half-title, woodcut brand on the title page, some foxing, old remounted parchment binding, smooth spine with manuscript title and author, boards covered in marbled paper.
Specialist Notes
A third impression, corrected by the author himself, is Henrico Caterino Davila (1576-1631), historian of the French Wars of Religion. His name derives from that of the King and Queen of France, Catherine de' Medici, and Henri, Duke of Vendome. His Historia—which covers the period from 1559 to 1598—was enormously successful.
