Information

Two autographed letters from the journalist and founder of the Fascist School of Journalism, addressed to Luigi Freddi .

The first is dated April 7, 1930, the second is dated September 21, 1931. Both written on letterhead of the Chamber of Deputies, consisting of 4 pages, two of which are written on the front and back, and two blank.

In the first letter, Orano refers to Freddi's magnificent article on dialects. In the article, Freddi expresses positions very similar to those Orano supported during a speech in the Chamber of Deputies, but which differ substantially from the theories expressed on the matter by Giovanni Gentile. Orano writes: " The anger of those affected by my attack on Gentile's monopoly rages... "
Luigi Freddi had published an article in Il Popolo d'Italia on August 14, 1929, titled " On Dialects." In it, he wrote that Italy's linguistic problem (characterized by the multiplicity of dialects) represented an aspect of the country's incomplete spiritual unity, and that it was up to Fascism to resolve it. According to Gentile, however, "local culture" and dialects were an essential element in the formation of national identity. Indeed, in 1929, he had stated that elementary school should be "planted" in the land of origin, where language and folklore intertwine, and then expand into the "universal forms of the national spirit."

In the second letter, Orano compliments Freddi on his brilliant career as a journalist and the acumen of his writings: " she is one of the few authentic children of life's new, resolute destiny... "
