Alessandro Del Piero's autographed card, wearing a Juventus jersey, published by Topps for the 2022/23 UEFA Club Competitions series. Numbered out of 75. The 1995-1996 season was the one in which Alessandro Del Piero definitively left behind his role as a promising talent to take on that of a world-class champion. After Roberto Baggio's departure, Juventus decided to focus entirely on the twenty-year-old Venetian, handing him the keys to their attack in one of the most iconic editions of the Champions League. His campaign in that competition was almost cinematic: he scored in each of the first five group stage matches, scoring goals of dazzling technical beauty. It was precisely during this period that the term "Del Piero goal" became commonplace, describing the curved trajectory that originated from the left corner of the penalty area and curled into the top corner, leaving opposing goalkeepers, from Borussia Dortmund to Steaua Bucharest, frozen in their tracks.
