From a model by Johan Joachim Kaendler of 1774, as part of the “Grand Russian Order”, intended for the decoration of a piece of furniture in the pavilion at the Bobsleigh Hills in the park of the Oranienbaum Palace. The above-mentioned group was intended to augur a long life for Tsarina Catherine II (see U. Pietsch, Meissen for the Czars (2004), cat. no. 174 and pp. 103–125, for a discussion of the gift to Catherine the Great).
