The “fiori e frutti sparsi” decoration was first recorded under this name in the factory stock lists between 1780 and 1788, though it was conceived around 1770. This composition, alternating flowers with plums, cherries, strawberries, pears, and other small fruits, derives from life studies by the factory’s painters, who drew inspiration from the cultivation of ‘exotic’ plants introduced at Doccia by Marquis Carlo.
