Another version of the painting depicting a Peasant with a wicker basket has been sold on the Italian antiques market before 1993 and then at auction in 1994 (Sotheby's, Monaco, 19 June 1994, no. 678/b). From a comparison with the black and white image (Zeri Photo Archive, no. 48467), our version seems to present a superior quality, as well as a better condition.
