A pencil sketch on paper for this work was offered for auction at Finarte in the auction of Works from the Bruno Mantura Collection held in Rome on 23 March 2021 (lot 87, b). The artist, who specialized in sacred art in the 1920s and 1930s, was in fact particularly dear to the critic and art scholar, who possessed a small nucleus of works by Barberis in his collection.
