Literature
Giovanna Casotto is considered one of the most authoritative and recognizable figures in contemporary erotic comics. Her visual language, strongly influenced by the aesthetics of American pin-ups, film noir, and 1950s illustration, transcends the simple dimension of eroticism to become an exploration of the body, the representation of desire, and the construction of the female image. Casotto develops a representation of the female body that eschews mere provocation. Her protagonists are constructed through a balance of sensuality, elegance, and stage presence, becoming the fulcrum of an aesthetic exploration in which desire intertwines with composition, light, color, and the construction of narrative space. Eroticism thus becomes an expressive language and not simply a representational goal. For these reasons, Giovanna Casotto is today considered not only one of the greatest interpreters of erotic comics, but also a central figure in the artistic and cultural evolution of the genre.
