Information

Milan, Francesco Agnelli, 1742. In 4°. Title page in red and black with copper-engraved vignette, with XLVII folded plates, slight foxing, hardback and decorated paper binding, handwritten title on the spine, losses and defects.

Specialist Notes

A very rare edition of the complete posthumous works of John Keill, a Scottish mathematician and astronomer and a key figure in the early dissemination of Newtonian thought. Among Isaac Newton's most faithful followers, Keill distinguished himself for his dedication to popularizing the Principia and for his central role in the dispute with Leibniz over the origins of calculus.
