Round, rifled, 21", 54 cal barrel, provided with with rear sight and foldaway, two-leaf rear sight.Visible rifling, pitting and encrustments especially at the center. Remains of the marks "STARR ARMS Co. / YONKERS N.Y." on the back and "HGS" on the side. Remains of browning (antique?) Falling-block frame with trigger guard serving as opening lever. Dorsal tang with 1858 patent marking. Lock with marking identical to the one on the barrel. Percussion breech-loading mechanism. Working. Smooth, walnut butt and fore-end, the former with remains of two military stamps. Brass barrel bracket (marks ‘U’ and ‘B’) and butt plate (mark ‘S’). Sling swivel.
