Naples, [Pascal Tizzano], 1823 and 1824. In oblong 4°. Architectural title page with title framed by neoclassical chiaroscuro friezes, Vesuvius erupting in the center, with 2 outside-the-text maps and 60 aquatint engravings depicting squares, monuments, and views, each with its own vellum and caption, slight traces of dampness on the lower margin, rare foxing, contemporary long-grain green and red morocco binding, Bourbon coat of arms within a green insert on the front cover and title on the back cover, slight signs of aging. Paper bookplate on the inside cover.

Specialist Notes

An extremely rare complete collection of 62 splendid aquatint views attributed to Andrea Pizzala, in perfect condition, with wide margins extending beyond the copperplate imprint. An evocative journey from Rome to Naples through views, glimpses, and monuments.
