Naples, Cardone, 1889. On 2nd page. Title page with an allegory of the Neapolitan Siren enclosed in a frieze with the coats of arms of the Neapolitan districts, a plate with the inauguration ceremony which took place on June 15, 1889, a topographical map of Naples with notes on the demolitions, with portraits of Cardone and D'Ambra on the verso and 114 numbered chromolithographic plates by F.P. Aversano and M. Zampella, showing squares, monuments, churches, streets, fountains, and warehouses of Naples, interspersed with text sheets, an attractive blue half-Moroccan back binding with corners and marbled paper, gilt titles and decorations on the spine, a blue cloth slipcase. Paper bookplate on the inside cover.

Specialist Notes

This copy features plates in perfect condition and an important blue morocco binding. This work is of fundamental documentary value regarding the reconstruction of the historic center of Naples before the demolitions during the redevelopment works.
