Florence, Filippo Giunta, 1594. On 2nd page. Printer's device on the title page and colophon, text in Greek and Latin, slight water stain on the title page, later binding in half parchment and marbled paper, titles within two tags on the spine, minor defects. Fading ownership signature on the title page, handwritten notes on the verso of the last leaf, paper tag on the inside cover.
Specialist Notes
The Peripatetic philosopher Demetrius of Phalerum (345 BC - c. 282 BC) was a disciple of Theophrastus and governor of Athens. According to Strabo, it was Demetrius of Phalerum who proposed the founding of the Library of Alexandria. This edition is a reprint of the 1562 edition, without significant changes.
