Information
Naples, at the Simoniana Printing House, 1758. In Folio. Beautiful allegorical frontispiece engraved by F. la Marra based on a design by MB Galiani, copperplate vignette on the title page and header at the beginning of the dedication to Charles of Bourbon, with 25 architectural plates etched by Francesco Cepparuli, each plate accompanied by a sheet of explanatory text, small restoration on the outer white margin of plate XXV, some light marginal foxing, contemporary hard parchment binding, blue edges.
Specialist Notes
First edition with commentary by Galiani. The Italian translation, with facing Latin text, was conducted using two manuscripts from the Vatican Library and the first Venetian edition from 1497. This copy belonged to Count Marino Pagani (1764-1815) of Belluno.
