In-12°; 2 vols.; woodcut on the frontispiece of the first vol. and headpieces depicting medallions designed by Ertinger, woodcut headpieces and initials, 12 plates folded several times depicting medals; binding in full black leather, with four raised bands on the spine, gilt title on the spine, cold-stamped decorations on the covers and spine, embellished with gilding also on the edges and internal grooves of the covers; marbled bubble paper pastedowns; title page in black and red lettering; gilt edges. Some browning, slightly loose hinges, one lower cap slightly damaged.

Specialist Notes
The first edition of this work by Jesuit Father Jobert Louis (1637-1719) was published in Paris in 1692 and the following year in Amsterdam, then in 1715 a second edition was published in Paris; this is a posthumous edition edited by Joseph de Bimard.
