Engraved frontispiece, intaglio Borghese arms on the title page, woodcut initials and headpieces, with 26 folded engraved plates, some rare foxing and reddening, contemporary leather binding, 5-ring spine, small losses, slight defects. Paper ex libris on the inside cover.
Specialist Notes
The Itinerary of Frans Schott (1548-1622) first appeared in Latin in 1601 and was constantly reprinted until 1761. From Venice to Naples, cities are described in terms of their history, monuments, relics , inscriptions and medals, the tables help travelers to orient themselves. This edition is dedicated to Paolo Borghese.
