Florence, Guglielmo Piatti, 1813. In 8th. Only volume I and volume III. In the first volume there is a folded table, in the third there are 4 folded tables. (numbered from V to VIII), some rare foxing, contemporary binding in half leather and marbled paper, red spray cuts, abrasions, defects.
Specialist Notes
A man of vast erudition, Jean-Antoine Chaptal (1756-1832) was a prominent chemist in France. Professor at Montpellier, he distinguished himself for his research on the industrial production of soda and sodium nitrate. A pioneer in the use of pilot plants for chemical experiments, he collaborated with Vaquelin to determine the composition of alum, promoting its synthetic production. Active in the revolutionary period, he contributed to the organization of the polytechnic school and subsequently to the Council of State and the Ministry of the Interior under Napoleon.
