Specialist Notes
THE FIRST NOBEL NOMINATION FOR DELEDDA, DATED 1913.
"Illustrious Sir, Prof. Segrè informs me of the proposal for the Nobel Prize in my favor, signed by you. I I thank you: but this word is very poor in expressing my gratitude and my pride: pride which now however creates in me a formidable responsibility before you, the commitment to make myself, with a whole future of work and research for improvement, worthy of his signature! (...)." The Nobel will arrive only in 1926, for various reasons studied and explored in depth by scholars.
