Arrigo Boito (Padua, 24 February 1842 – Milan, 10 June 1918) was an Italian man of letters, librettist and composer.
The link between the two great writers is represented by a woman, and who woman: the legendary Eleonora Duse. The relationship between Arrigo Boito and Eleonora Duse will remain absolutely secret. As it should be between two celebrities, Duse is in fact the artist admired and applauded by critics and the public and Boito is the prominent intellectual. They will remain friends even after their relationship ends. Breakup caused by the passionate vehemence ofGabriele D'Annunzio who burst into the life of the actressnow acclaimed throughout Europe. From 1894 and for 10 years D'Annunzio would represent heaven and hell for Duse.
