In Venice, for Domenico Zio, [1553]. In 8 °, nineteenth-century brown half leather with gold title on red patch on the spine, signature on the title page, typographic mark on the title, cc. [4], 651, [1]; bluing at the top corner of the last 3 cc., otherwise a good copy.
Specialist Notes
First edition, rare (but there is another Venetian of the same year), the author's name is derived from the dedication. Original work by Maffeo Albertini and Giovanni Del Bene revised and enlarged by the author. The author in 1538 was consecrated coadjutor bishop of the diocese of Bergamo, then in 1544 he became coadjutor bishop of the diocese of Verona, in 1555, he became apostolic nuncio in Poland and finally in July 1558 he was appointed to guide the diocese of Bergamo, and was third president of the council of Trent, participating in its work.
