Specialist Notes
Dürer's passion for military strategies led him to represent more than one subject dedicated to this theme, all of which can be dated to a mature age. Even more significant is the Treatise on the fortifications of cities, castles and villages & nbsp; which he published at the end of his life, in 1527, as part of his studies on civil and military proportions. Studies to which he devoted himself with greater dedication with the onset of malaria (contracted during the trip north to observe a beached whale) which had weakened him and decreased his engraving and artistic activity.
