Bassano, Giuseppe Remondini, 1787. In & nbsp; 8º. Chalcographic portrait of the author, frieze on the title page, woodcut headboards, initials and end pieces, with 2 folded tables and complete with XXII pl. folded in fine volume, slight halo at the inner margin, light scattered blooms, tear with loss at plate. on p. 234, signs of wear along the fold lines of the boards and at the edges, small hole in tables 2,4,5,6; small gaps in tables XIV and XXII, coeval binding in calfskin, author and title stamped in gold within a gusset on the smooth spine, marbled red cuts, defects. Signature of belonging to the title page.

Specialist Notes

Benjamin Martin (1704-1782) after starting out as a traveling lecturer, he was a prolific writer, ranging from natural philosophy to theology, mathematics, language, geography. He was also a fairly successful entrepreneur, dedicating himself to the sale of optical instruments, glasses, telescopes, microscopes, in his workshop in Fleet Street in London.
