Venice, [Michele Tramezzino], 1544. In the 8th. Typographic mark on the title page and at the end depicting the Sibyl, text in italics, on the title page work of compensated woodworm and woodworm hole in the outer margin and at the top margin, with a gap, which continues on the second page, slight halos, coeval parchment binding with author, manuscript title on the spine with library paper patch, stains, upper corner of the front plate with small gaps due to woodworm work.


Specialist Notes

Rare edition in the translation by Giovanni Battista Castrodardo. The humanist born in Venice in 1456, spent his life between Padua and Venice dedicating himself & nbsp; teaching Greek and Latin letters and cultivating his philosophical studies mainly aimed at critical reading and dissemination of Aristotelian texts. From his countless historical readings this volume emerged, printed for the first time in Venice in 1531. The work collects writings on various topics of ancient history, unusual such as the statues of Daedalus, the discussion of the expedition of Hercules against the Amazons and destined for sure editorial success as they are organized to be read quickly.
