Padua, Giambattista Pasquali, 1780. In 4th. With a folded board, ornate xylographic initials and friezes, rare small stains, slight water gore at the upper edge of the last cards, small tear on the folded paper, coeval binding in half leather and marbled cardboard, light peeling.
Specialist Notes
Chemist and scientist, Carburi was one of the founders of the Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts of Padua (1779). Commissioned by the Venetian Republic to find a way to build cast guns for warships, he published this work in which, however, he developed a method that turned out to be not very functional. The turning point came when his research led him to cast iron: it was thanks to this technological innovation that the Venetian fleet got the better of Tunis and Bizerte.
