Specialist Notes
Rare first edition of the Portuguese physician, philosopher, scientist who lived and worked in Florence and Pisa. & Nbsp; His medical and philosophical production is of particular importance. Since he arrived in Florence in 1609, he approached the Galilean intellectuals, was appointed private doctor (archiatrist) of the Grand Dukes, and advisor to the Sanitary Magistrate of Florence at the time of the plague of 1630-33, as well as professor of theoretical medicine at the University of Pisa. In the work De meteoris microcosmi & nbsp; and in other works, such as those on the plague used by the Florentine magistrate at the time of the epidemic, Castro argues, with a new theoretical formulation, that the constitutive material principle of things ( Archeus) would be one and indivisible.
