In 2°. 40 beautiful plates engraved on 34 sheets (of the 60 on 52 sheets), typographical mark and woodcut finishers, water stain on some plates, foxing, R-2B2 files are missing, contemporary binding in green half leather, titles and friezes on the spine engraved in gold, marbled plates, yellow cuts.

First part of the first edition of this refined illustrated work. Each table is described in detail and sometimes accompanied by notes. Nicolas Ponce's greatest merit was to spread the knowledge and beauty of the elegant classical decoration of walls and ceilings through his engravings. His designs had a major influence on the Neoclassical and Empire styles.
