Bergamo, Pietro Lancellotti, 1747. In 4th. 2 vols. Woodcut mark on the title page, repeated on the end, woodcut drop caps, headers and ends, on the title page of the first volume, woodworm marks on the lower margin and restoration on the lower corner, binding in full rigid parchment, handwritten title on the spine, tears on the spine. Handwritten ownership note on the title page.

Collection of the works of Giovanni Pietro Maffei, published together with his biography. The original Latin edition of this important work was published in 1588. It took Father Maffei twelve years to write his history of the East and West Indies. This classic work on the topic is presented here with a selection of interesting Jesuit letters collected by the author.
