Specialist Notes

A rare illustrated edition of the famous prophecies of the monk from Cosenza who died in San Giovanni in Fiore in 1202. The evocative woodcuts, of Venetian origin, depict ritual moments of conclaves or ecclesiastical meetings, as well as battles between angels and demons. According to Dennis Rhodes, this edition was actually produced by Lazzaro Soardi, who published a substantially identical one in April of the same year.
