Specialist Notes
The ownership note likely refers to Giovanni Alberti, a Florentine born in 1540 who immediately embarked on an ecclesiastical career and soon became a distinguished diplomat. He became Bishop of Cortona and Tuscan Orator to Sixtus V. He died in 1596.
