length 89 cm.
Slightly curved, single-and false-edged blade, a broad central fuller, and a medial rib toward the weak; the forte finely burin-engraved with a royal coat of arms, a crowned anchor, floral motifs, and the maker’s name “SELBY HIGH ST. PORTSMOUTH.” The tang bears a brass-inlaid proof mark and engraved with floral and geometric motifs. Gilt-bronze hilt with rain guard bearing a crowned anchor, folding rear valve, and lion’s-head pommel; wooden grip covered in fish skin with wire binding. Officer’s sword knot. Leather scabbard with gilt-bronze mounts (gilding with missin parts), the locket marked with the same maker. Together with a leather belt fitted with a buckle bearing a crowned anchor amid laurel fronds.
