Information
length 96,5 cm.
Slender curved Damask blade, with fuller along almost its entire length, except at the forte, which is triangular and featuring convex sides. The fuller contains five longitudinal grooves. Tip with some pitting. Gold-inlaid forte decorated with floral and interlaced scroll engravings. At the center of the decorations, on the third side, a cartouche with inscription in Arabic characters or imitation thereof; on the fourth side, a monogram in Latin characters stylized to resemble Arabic, interpretation required. Gold-inlaid back, engraved with arabesques. Blade with clear signs of use (including the spine edges, suggesting parrying—combat or duel?). Austrian-style iron mounts, with simple yet elegant single-brace guard and long smooth quillon. Handle with old black leather covering, missing braid. With original iron scabbard with two lipped mounts on rounded bands. Preserved in its original rigid case (showing wear and age), exterior covered in black Morocco leather, interior lined in white suede; complete with closure hooks. Rare and interesting.
