Round, rifled, 13 mm cal barrel (clean bore, visible rifling), with octagonal breech, equipped with foresight, clutch for the bayonet, foldaway and adjustable rear sight, marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. BIRMINGHAM', with serial numbers ('66xx"), British marks and the crossed keys mark of the Papal States. The barrel with surface oxidation, needs cleaning. The frame with a working (?) rolling-block mechanism, serial numbers coeval with the barrel, Birmingham mark and 'REMINGTON'S PATENT' on the upper tang. Smooth wooden butt and fore-end (restoration near the tang), with some stamps on the lower part. Iron mounts and ramrod. Complete with a bayonet featuring a yatagan blade (length 69 cm), brass handle with different serial number and iron scabbard.
