Typical rotating-block bolt with working mechanism, frame marked “MODEL 1871” and “U.S. SPRINGFIELD 1872” with eagle. Upper tang with patent markings. Wooden butt and fore-end; the former with military inspection stamp and marking “25”. Iron mounts, the upper tang of the butt plate marked “US”.
