Information

Ducato di Savoia
height 217,7 cm.
Cusp with straight, double-edged blade of lozenge section, with remains of engraving, tapered neck and cushion-shaped knot at the base. Hollow axe with beak-shaped humps, almost straight falcon's beak with shaped tip. Truncated bands. The surface has remains of engravings. Rosettes and other floral decorations on the top cusp and axe, in the center of the neck of the axe a noble emblem with a cartouche shield charged with a cross (possibly Savoy) broken by a hereditary lambel and surmounted by a crown (possibly of a marquis). On the beak, the monogram “VA” (possibly Vittorio Amedeo) flanked by the Savoy knot. A cusped stop on both sides of the halberd. On a wooden shaft of later but not recent production, decorated in the upper segment with brass studs and gold and blue fabric tassels. Interesting.
