Specialist Notes

Wantingto return to try his hand at a lively adventure in the sci-fi genre after ThePirate Spaceship, created in 1967, Crepax takes up the theme of "spacepirates" by introducing the character of Valentina into the story. Thefinal result from the narrative point of view is a more ironic and alluringstory. The graphic style is also different, from the few very clear strokespunctuated by solid blacks (and full vignette flat colors added in the printedversion) of the 60s to a much more dense and baroque hatch, rich in details andtypical of Crepax at the end of the years. '70. More modern and essential arethe spaceships and the costumes of the characters of the first story, while inthis one prevail nudity, bodices, Renaissance puffs and structures inspired bythe world of nature, such as the spaceship on this page that recalls theskeleton of a crustacean or a bug.
