Sunday comic strip from 1937 for "Little Nemo in Slumberland." Created in 1905 by American artist Winsor McCay, "Little Nemo in Slumberland" is considered a seminal work in the field of the Ninth Art, visionary in its approach and design, making McCay a forerunner of modern comics and a pioneer of fantasy. In 1935, Bob McCay Jr., Winsor's talented son, signed with King Features Syndicate to revive his father's creation, first in newspapers and then in comics. He offered a slightly older and more heroic Nemo, as well as a more modern sensibility.
