Information
pencil and ink on thin cardboard
36 x 41 cm
Original comic art made by Rubino for an episode of his Lio Balilla, published on the front page of the newspaper Il Balilla between 1927 and 1929. After nineteen years at CdP, a key figure in the newspaper's editorial staff, Rubino decided to leave the Milanese newspaper to join the regime newspaper Il Balilla, driven by "an absolute need to carry out my work in a less apolitical field and in a more lively and combative manner." Rubino worked at Balilla for only three years, from 1927 to 1929, making comic strips from this period extremely rare. Pinholes in the corners and a slight crease in the lower left corner. Signed.
