Venice, Ziletti, 1556. In 8°. Woodcut title page and initial with fine, later coloring, some light foxing, small woodworm damage in the white margin of a few quires, full, stiff parchment binding on the back. Fading ownership signature on the title page.

Rare first edition of Lucius Maurus's guide to Roman antiquities, which also includes Ulisse Aldrovandi's first published work, an account of Roman statuary written during a stay in Rome between 1549 and 1550, while he was on trial for heresy.
