Little is known about this Irish painter, who specialized in landscapes. His activity is documented between 1783 and 1787, the years in which he exhibited at the Royal Academy in London; sources report that in 1787 he moved to Bath, and then settled in Dublin from 1790 (WG Strickland, A Dictionary of Irish Artists , I, Dublin and London, 1913, p. 534).
There are few well-known works within his pictorial corpus , to which we must add this canvas, signed and created during his stay in Bath, as specified by the painter himself next to the signature.
