Information
tempera on thin cardboard
70 x 100 cm
Original artwork made by Cesselon for the movie poster of "1984", directed by Michael Anderson with Edmond O'Brien, Jan Sterling, and Michael Redgrave in 1956. First cinematographic adaptation (after the English BBC TV movie ) of Orwell's masterpiece. The bare, gloomy, distressing settings perfectly render the dramatic and desperate atmosphere that permeates a world transformed into an anthill, whose regimented inhabitants must function like machines. Artwork exhibited in the exhibition "Ali di Carta: l’Aeronautica Militare e il volo attraverso i manifesti e la cinematografia" held in Rome at the Palazzo dell'Aeronautica from October 2022 to February 2023. Slight creases, pin holes and tears on the margins .
