The squat form censer is situated on tripod feet designed as three mythical beats. At either side of the body the head of a mythical beast protrudes grasping a ringlet handle from their mouths. The cover of the censer is carved in open work high relief with three Buddhist lion dogs. The censer comes accompanied by a 19th century fitted wood stand. For a similar example see Christie’s “Important Chinese Ceramics and works of art” Hong Kong December 3rd 2021 Lot number 3006.
