38.5 x 49 cm
signed and dated lower right: MIMI' / CARRERA/ / 1954
Introduced to artistic practice by her husband Orazio Amato, Emilia, known as Mimì, painted primarily landscapes, portraits, and still lifes, stylistically akin to the Roman School, as in the present work. Here, we recognize the volumetric solidity and luminous palette of artists such as Emanuele Cavalli and the figurative Capogrossi, combined, however, with a more personal approach to texture.
