The painting is accompanied by an expertise by Mina Gregori, dated 29 April 1977. The scholar certainly attributes the work to a Florentine artist of the 16th century active in the circle of painters of the studiolo of Francesco I and, in particular, suggests an attribution to Alessandro Fei (Florence 1543 - 1592).
