Information

88 x 41 x 7 cm
This bas-relief may have originally served as an overdoor. The composition depicts the kneeling Archangel Gabriel holding a scroll, a vase with lilies, a symbol of the Virgin's purity, and Mary between a lectern with the Holy Scriptures and an architectural seat.

Provenance
Milanese Antiques Market Exhibition, Edith Moncelesan, 21 April-7 May 1978.

In the sacristy of the church of Nostra Signora del Carmine and Sant'Agnese in Genoa, there is a bas-relief in black Promontorio stone with a similar composition depicting the Annunciation, dated between the 15th and 16th centuries.
