The model
Known as the most successful motorcar in the history of rallying, the Delta HF Integrale has won every world championship between 1987 and 1992. Born in 1987, after the suppression of the infamous Group B in 1986, the Delta Integrale was conceived to withstand the rules of Group A. To obtain the necessary homologation for racing; Group A required a minimum of 5000 cars to be produced. In a very short time, Lancia's engineers changed the front-wheel-drive sedan into a real "monster.” They increased the overall engine’s displacement to 2-litres, they fitted a Ferguson viscous central differential and the rear Torsen limited slip differential from the S4. All these changes produced a successful car, that won its first competitive outing right away, the 1987 Montecarlo rally, and achieved an impressive array of victories. In 1991, with the introduction of the Evoluzione version of 210hp, which was produced until 1992 and replaced by the EVO2 the following year, the Delta reached its final stage.Introduced in 1992 to commemorate the sixth title in the rally world championship, where Lancia dominated with six wins and four-second places on a total of ten races, the Martini 6 offered the iconic Martini Racing livery on a production car. Immediately recognisable from a regular Delta thanks to the presence of the flashy side stickers and the peculiar interior with teal Alcantara seats and red contrast stitching and RECARO seats, the Martini 6 was a car destined to enter every enthusiast's garage.
The car
This example is the 76th Martini 6 of a total limited production run of 310. Before becoming part of the Pesenti’s collection in 2015, this Delta had two previous owners, and it still has its original plates. For any Lancia’s enthusiast, the Pesenti family should need no introduction as they owned the firm from 1956 to 1969. Led by Carlo Pesenti, the well-known industrialist of the famous Italcementi firm, the family acquired Lancia directly from the heirs of Vincenzo Lancia. In slightly more than ten years, Lancia produced an impressive array of models from the elegant Flaminia to the quick and sporty Fulvia Coupé. Driven only for 47.057 km and still retaining its original interior fitted with the protective plastic sheets on the door panels and rear-seat side bolsters as well as its factory-installed stickers, this immaculate Martini 6 appeals directly to the most accurate Lancia enthusiast and die-hard Delta HF Integrale fan.
