Information
Florence. Olschki, 1921. In 2°. 510 x 360 mm. Facsimile reproduction of the famous Landiano codex of the Divine Comedy (1336), 110 leaves with 28 pages of text. Preface and introduction by A. Balsamo and G. Bertoni. Half-cloth binding.
Specialist Notes
Reproduction of the Landiano Codex 190, believed to be the oldest manuscript of the Divine Comedy with a certain date (1336), currently preserved at the Passerini-Landi Municipal Library in Piacenza. Along with the Divine Comedy, it also contains Dante's "The Sweet Rhymes of Love That I Usually Sing," several sonnets by Guittone d'Arezzo, and several chapters by Bosone da Gubbio and Iacopo Alighieri, which provide a sort of summary of the work. The colophon reveals the identity of the copyist, Antonio da Fermo, who states that the work was commissioned by Beccario Beccaria.
