Information document of the Constitution of the Consultative Senate of the Kingdom of Italy of 1809.
Written on the first two pages on parchment paper, autographed in black ink, the text reads:

" Sire - The Consultative Senate of the Kingdom of Italy was constituted on the first of this April. It is eager to inform Your Majesty of this, since our Most August Monarch, with his magnanimity, has wished to so greatly honour the Senate by associating it with the Princes of the Imperial House. The Consultative Senate, while applauding itself at seeing itself united with the sublime Personages who belong most closely to His Imperial and Royal Majesty by the ties of blood and affection, cannot help but manifest to Your Majesty its lively exultation; and while it admires a young Monarch from the very beginning of his Reign creating the happiness of such a notable portion of Germany, it begs Your Majesty to accept the sentiments of homage and veneration which the Consultative Senate presents to his Throne, and the wishes which he makes for the preservation and prosperity of his August Person. From the Palace of the Consultative Senate - 15 April 1809 - Paradisi ordinary president - G.Lamberti - G.Mengotti "

After being crowned King of Italy on May 26, 1805, Napoleon structured the kingdom's institutions, including the Consultative Senate, which served from 1809 to 1814, vesting it with consultative, legislative, and supervisory functions. In February 1809, the Consultative Senate was reorganized into a body composed of ex-officio members (the princes of the imperial family), grand officials of the crown, high prelates, and meritorious citizens chosen by the King. The constitution of April 1, 1809, marked the operational beginning of this new composition, which inextricably linked the fate of the Italian Senate to that of the French Imperial House.

The document is signed by Paradisi Ordinary President , that is Giovanni Paradisi (Reggio Emilia, 19 November 1760 – Reggio Emilia, 26 August 1826) who was in fact President of the Senate Consultant, and by the members Giacomo Lamberti and Mengotti (secretary)

Sheet measures approximately 230x450mm, marked central fold, scattered stains, ink absorbed by the paper visible on the back of the sheet, in good condition.
