Dated February 19, 1932, Mussolini writes to the Governor of Rome, Prince Francesco Boncompagni :
" Dear Boncompagni, we must begin work on renovating the premises at Porta Pia, which will house the Bersaglieri Museum from September onwards. The Museum will be a new element of dignity, decorum, and attraction for the capital. And above all, it will document the now century-old heroism of the Mussolini Corps. "
