Volume " For a Greater Italy - Orations and Messages by Gabriele d'Annunzio " with a dedication and handwritten signature by Gabriele d'Annunzio to General Thaon di Revel. The handwritten dedication reads in full:

" To General Thaon di Revel / this book of faith and combat offers / his old and faithful / Cavaliere of Alessandria / Gabriele d'Annunzio / Venice: June 1916 "

PAOLO THAON DI REVEL (Turin 1859 – Rome 1948) was one of the greatest admirals of the Italian Navy, Chief of Staff of the Navy during the First World War. His extraordinary action

His command in the conflict earned him the title of "Duke of the Sea" and the rank of Admiral of Italy. His collaboration with d'Annunzio during the war was close: both operated in the Adriatic, and d'Annunzio took part in numerous naval and air ventures from Venice. Admiral Thaon di Revel later donated to d'Annunzio the bow of the royal ship Puglia, permanently displayed at the Vittoriale degli Italiani.
