Information

A copy of “The Spectacular Spider-Man #27” (1979) graded by CGC (7.5) and signed by Frank Miller. Published in 1979, The Spectacular Spider-Man #27 represents a historic moment for American comics: it marks the first ever collaboration between Frank Miller and Daredevil, the character he would later revolutionize in the years to come. Here are the highlights of this issue, entitled "The Blind Leading the Blind": • Miller's debut: Frank Miller takes care of the drawings exclusively, working from scripts by Bill Mantlo and inks by Frank Springer. His style is already dynamic and shows the first signs of the cinematic direction that will make him famous. • The Plot: Spider-Man is temporarily blinded during a fight with the criminal Masked Marauder. Disoriented and vulnerable, he receives unexpected help from Daredevil, who guides him across the rooftops of New York and teaches him to fight using his other senses. • The fateful meeting: It is said that it was while drawing this issue that Miller fell in love with the "cornetto", seeing in him an as yet untapped noir and dramatic potential. A few months later, Miller would become the regular artist of the Daredevil series starting with issue #158. Beyond being an action crossover, the issue establishes a deep mutual respect between the two heroes and serves as a "bridge" to Daredevil's rebirth as an icon of adult comics.
